This week was their publishing day! They all finished writing their final draft of biographies, posted on their seesaw and then had a celebration as a group. Way to go 2nd grades!
Week 30: April 16th to April 19th
This week was their revising and editing day where they had support from teachers or their peers to find their mistakes and make changes in their writing. I enjoyed seeing them working hard on their writing pieces :)
Week 29: April 9th to April 12th
There are two weeks left until the end of term 4. Therefore, students made sure to have written down all the information in their biographies before they move unto revising and editing. Students used checklist organizer to see if they have everything or missing some parts on their own and with the teacher. This helped them to see which parts that they needed to work on to make their final writing pieces better.
Week 28: April 2nd to April 5th
They continued writing on other sections of the biography writing. This week, they worked on third paragraphs which they had to write about their people's achievements and the reason why they are important. Students spent some time on this paragraph since they had to research and gather some information. They also had opportunities to meet a teacher one-on-one to make sure they understand about their person. Those who were done with their third paragraphs, they continued working on their conclusion, too.
No School: Spring Break
Week 27: March 19th to March 22nd
Our biography writing has divided into four sections: introduction (basic information of their person), childhood, their achievements and why they are important, and conclusion. This week, students started writing about their introduction and their childhood in complete sentences on their graphic organizers.
Week 26: March 12th to March 15th
This week was a week of "planning" where students had chances to brainstorm and research about their chosen people. This week, they focused basic information of their people and the reason why they picked them. They shared why they picked them and one of the students said "Walt Disney because I like Disney movies!"
Week 25: March 5th to March 8th
Hello term 4! In term 4, grade 2 students will start writing "biographies." In this week, students had opportunities to look through many different types of important or famous people around the world and had chances to pick one person who they wanted to research and write about. Some of the chosen people were Walt Disney, Martin Luther King Jr., General Yi-Sun Shin, George Washington and etc. We all are excited to see their final writing pieces!
